Shanxi Omoniyi, online content manager and writer
Shanxi Omoniyi (pronounced “SHAN’T-see OM-o-NEE-yee”) began working for CFCA in July 2010. Born in New Zealand to an Australian father and a Singaporean-Chinese mother, she is proud to be unique just like everyone else!
She loves to work at CFCA, where she learns from and interacts with different cultures around the world every day. Her sponsored child is Victor in Kenya.
Outside work hours, Shanxi holds a wide variety of interests including travel, multiculturalism, social media and all things chocolate.
Veronica Batton, writer and editor
Veronica Batton began her relationship with CFCA in 2009, when she was hired as a Sponsor Services phone liaison.
In 2012, she joined the communications team as a writer/editor, where she is grateful to learn so much from the sponsored children and families served through the Hope for a Family program.
Veronica sponsors Thilothammal in Chennai, India, has great love for all things crafty and believes she can recite Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back from memory.
Elizabeth Alex, community outreach and media relations director
Elizabeth joined CFCA in August 2012 after a long career in television news.
Inspired by the work CFCA does in the world, Elizabeth helps tell the story of families whose lives are transformed through CFCA’s Hope for a Family sponsorship program and the unique friendships formed between CFCA families in the field and caring people who support them.
Elizabeth also runs an orphanage in Romania, and through CFCA she sponsors Nduta who lives in Kenya and happens to be 112 years old.
Bob Hentzen, president and co-founder
Bob Hentzen founded CFCA with three of his siblings and a friend in 1981. He serves as president of the organization and travels extensively with his wife, Cristina, to monitor and support our projects around the world and to visit with sponsors on CFCA awareness trips.
Bob and Cristina live in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Bob completed Walk2gether, a nearly 8,000-mile solidarity walk through 12 Latin American countries, in June 2011. During the walk, he shed light on families living in poverty and the benefits of child sponsorship.
Henry Flores, director of the El Salvador communications center
Throughout his 16 years with CFCA, Henry Flores has served as translator, subproject coordinator, project coordinator, regional director for Guatemala and El Salvador, and currently as the director of the communications center in El Salvador. His experience working with CFCA has deepened his belief that it is possible to build a better future for the poor and their communities.
His son, Henry Jr., plays soccer and loves video games; his daughter, Sofia, is a great painter and reader; and his wife, Roxana, a lawyer who also worked for CFCA, currently takes care of the family and cooks for the CFCA awareness trip groups visiting El Salvador.
Dan Pearson, director of international programs
Dan Pearson works with CFCA programs around the world. His areas of focus include project operations, financial accountability, organizational learning and outcome evaluation. He has more than 15 years of experience in international development. Dan has lived and worked in South America, Europe, the Middle East and India.
Dan travels regularly to monitor the CFCA program, talk with project staff and sponsored friends and their families, and learn from their experiences and ideas. He can pack for a two-week trip in 30 minutes.
Dan and his wife, Kristina, have three children. They sponsor Bindu and Ashwini from India.
