The Chinese proverb says: “A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.”
May you walk with a song in your heart.

Don Roberto y Dona Christina-
You and the people of Guatemala remain in our hearts and prayers. We’ve remembered you often since our MAT in August. May awareness and solidarity grow by leaps and bounds with each step you take.
At Mass this morning, Fr. McClean mentioned CFCA, and the blessings brought to so many around the world, so I said a special prayer for your walk and all those who go with you, and all whom you’ll encounter.
May God Bless you and keep you safe & strong.
51. Marsha & Bob Murphy | December 28, 2009 at 2:29 pm

May God watch over you and give you good health and many angels watching over you as you venture on your journey. God Bless and Peace to you. Marsha

What a wonderful and awe inspiring journey you have begun!! I met you, Mr. Hentzen, in passing as a volunteer for the San Lucas Mission during my college days. I was so impressed by your work and the mission of CFCA that I gifted my fiance (now husband) with an adopted child of San Lucas- Rafael- during Christmas in 2007. He has been a joy to sponsor over these past two years and we LOVE receiving/sending letters! You bring joy to hundreds of thousands of people like us each and every day thanks to your work mr. Hentzen. God bless you!
56. Cindy Boggs | December 29, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Dear Bob, I just read about your new 8,000 mile walk through Central and South America in “Sacred Ground” and it literally moved me to tears. I’m so glad to find out about this on the day you actually begin this pilgrimage, as I will be walking with you in spirit and praying for you and Christina and all the people you encounter and walk with every day. I am the proud sponsor of a beautiful little girl in San Lucas Toliman and am so grateful for the experience of meeting her and her family several times now. Fr. Greg Schaffer has taught me and countless others very well the concept of “walking with” those who are poor. Your walk is illustrating that in a powerful, amazing, and dramatically literal way. God bless you, Bob!

Hi Bob,
God Bless your walk and the hundred thousands you will touch. Jesus says: “Feed my lambs.” You inspire many to take up this call. Our Son, Myles, was taken to God on Jan 5th 2008 in Costa Rica. Never a healthier boy walked this land. He is with you throughout your walk and bringing smiles to the sponsored children and aging. Say a special hello to him in Costa Rica for us, and feel his joy in each step, as he takes each with you.

87. Catherine Crosby | January 3, 2010 at 1:46 pm
Bob and Cristina, On this feast of the Epiphany, you are living the words of the gospel, Isaiah and Ephesians!!! The “mystery” was and continues to be made known (if we listen!) “that the Gentiles (the “others”) are coheirs, members of the same body…” and that truly, we ALL belong to one another. The magi, strangers, travelled far to find Jesus, and remained true to their call when he was not exactly the king they expected, rather a baby born in poverty. They remained faithful despite the powerful people who would subvert their desires to offer their gifts. How blessed are all those who share the walk, either with you or remotely, by the gift of your faith and your witness. We look forward to the day, brought closer by your every step, when “Nations shall walk by your light… then you shall be radiant at what you see, your heart shall throb and overflow.” Peace, Cathy

A prayer dedicated to those who walk and for the people they encounter along the way:
A Prayer of Charity and Unity
Father, send all your mighty angels to encamp, guide and protect this Blessed journey.
Continue to Bless all those who also unite along the way, this sometimes easy and at times, arduous walk.
You sent your son once to walk among the people to spread the good news, many followed.
Today we continue to follow, for it is a Blessed walk of hope dignity, unity, and love, spread among all the people of these and all lands.
The walk is a reminder that the people of distant lands are not alone.
We walk along within the hearts of this Blessed walk.
For charity begins in the heart.
We, the padrinos walk with you, hand in hand through this journey of life.
We are humbled.
We honor the gift of life my sponsored friends that you bring to our hearts and spirits. You are giving to us far more than you can imagine.
There are no boundaries, just unity for us, our Blessed children and Blessed aging.
Father, for those that are lost, let them see, though this walk, that there is hope, dignity, and that they are not forgotten.
Whether through constant prayer or charity work, we care.
So we go forth, walk2gether, spreading the good news of hope dignity, unity, and love. Amen

Good luck Bob on your walk. Thank you for sharing a wonderful, and life changing program with me. When I went to the MAT to Costa Rica this past November I really had no idea of what I was getting into. Not sponsoring a child, just wanting to see the country was my “agenda”. It was so much more than that. I hope your walk offers you the same warmth and love and caring I received while I was in the presence of great CFCA families, staff and children. God Bless.

I am so proud of all that you do. We enjoyed a fantastic trip to Guatamala in 2003, that changed our life. I have sponsored a child in Peru, since we returned. I had adopted my daughter from Peru, in 1992, so we wanted to sponsor a child from Peru. Do you have any plans to have a mission trip to Peru? We would love to return there sometime.
172. cfca | February 1, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Hi Barb and Ashley,
Thank you very much for your interest in a CFCA mission awareness trip to Peru. At this time, CFCA does not offer a group trip to visit this region. We are not able to offer trips to all of the countries where we work. This is for a variety of reasons; in some areas, the limited number of project staff available is not equipped to host a large group visit at this time. In other regions, the distance between communities, the local infrastructure and weather would make large group travel difficult or unsafe.
If you are interested in visiting your sponsored friend there, please do not hesitate to call our main office at 800-875-6564 to speak with someone about an individual sponsor visit. Again, we thank you for your interest in a mission awareness trip in Peru.

Isaías 40: 29-31, dice:
29 Él fortalece al cansado
y acrecienta las fuerzas del débil.
30 Aun los jóvenes se cansan, se fatigan,
y los muchachos tropiezan y caen;
31 pero los que confían en el Señor
renovarán sus fuerzas;
volarán como las águilas:
correrán y no se fatigarán,
caminarán y no se cansarán.
Isaiah 40: 29-31, says:
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

202. Steve & Connie Williamson | February 12, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Darryl and Joyce,
Connie and I are from Texas. I would love to walk a ways with Bob, but I don’t know whether he plans to spend the entire MAT with us or just a short time and continue his walk. And, of course, we have our sponsored child to meet and get to know. We are going down a couple of days early and plan day trips to the rain forest and to one of the volcanos. Then we don’t leave Costa Rica until the 22nd.
I’ve got to get some logistics details from the staff in KC. All of the MATs are different (this is our 3rd – Mexico and Guatemale the other two). Plus, the walk itself makes this MAT different. I don’t know if straff members would drive us out to join the walk as it comes into San Jose, or if we could join Bob as he leaves San Jose and then be transported back to catch a plane. I’ll be working out these details in a couple weeks.
This weekend I am presenting at all the Masses in our parish. This is a first time, and I’m a bit nervous!! So first things first. Once we have completed the appeal, I’ll get serious about plans for Costa Rica.
Look forward to meeting you,
Steve (and Connie) Williamson

Dearest Brother Bob,
Let us walk humbly along side of Jesus during this most holy season of Lent, calling to mind the many graces He bestows upon those that embrace the needs of a brother and sister.
May your unselfish trek open the hearts of many with a great desire to share in the bounty He has assigned to each of us – And, may the Blessed Virgin Mary keep you safe within her Motherly Mantle as we walk joyfully at your side seeing in the eyes of all that you encounter the Prince of Peace, Jesus the Christ.
Our humble prayers be with you always,
AnnMarie & Larry Clutter…^i^

Bob,
Your mission is amazing! I pray for you and CFCA often. Not many people have impacted the world in the magnitude that you have.
Please tell my mom Christine Sementelli that we said hi and we love and miss her very much!

¡ Saludos y bendiciones Don Roberto!
What a thrill it was to join you for a few miles on your walk through Nicaragua. Our MAT was blessed to be able to share this time with you, Christina, and the Walk2gether team. And it was so wonderful that our sponsored children walked with us!
The staff in Nicaragua did an outstanding job planning our MAT. The children that smiled and wrapped their arms around us, the adults whose eyes said “thanks”, the beautiful countryside, the songs we sang, have left an indelible mark on my soul.
I pray that all goes well for the remainder of your trip. Thanks for giving me a new awareness of what it means to walk with the poor.
May God continue to bless you and the CFCA family,
Carol Tabor – Stayton, Oregon
