Recently, Jose Rodriguez, project director for Colombia at CFCA headquarters in Kansas, traveled to Colombia to visit with mothers of sponsored children.
During the workshop, mothers gathered to answer a question: “What is your dream?”
Many women had the opportunity to share what they were interested in pursuing and CFCA had the chance to help them make it happen.

Dubis sits in front of her home sharing her story.
Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Dubis now lives in a community south of Cartagena.
She is the mother of two sponsored youth.
Dubis found a new calling when she joined the CFCA mothers group, which meets twice a month.
“Before my sons’ sponsorship, my life was a routine. I would go to work and do the chores at home,” Dubis said.
“I did not go outside a lot and I did not talk with my neighbors.”

Maria is a 75-year-old sponsored aging friend from Cartagena, Colombia.
Maria recently decided to go back to school to get her college education — a dream she had chased since her youth.
Because of gender stereotypes, Maria could not achieve her dream until her late 70s.
But with help and encouragement from her family, her sponsor and CFCA, Maria graduated from Pamplona University in Colombia.

Judith Bautista is the CFCA project coordinator for Bogota, Colombia, and a CFCA sponsor.
Judith began sponsoring 19-year-old Jorge in 2010 after a trip she took to Honduras to learn more about CFCA mothers groups.
She had the opportunity to meet Jorge when she traveled to Honduras recently for a CFCA awareness trip.
