A few weeks ago, my older sister shared a photo on her Facebook page of my 5-year-old niece scrubbing the toilet in footie pajamas. As I scrolled through the comments I read that my niece was doing household chores to raise money for a Christmas gift to give to charity.

I thought it was a great idea. With tablets, smartphones, television and the Internet blaring ads for toys and sales, it can be easy to get distracted and stuck in the world of “me.”

Give education. Give Hope. Give for Giving Tuesday.

Whew. The holiday weekend is over. We’ve given thanks, eaten at least one feast, hunted deals and shopped online.

Now we get to take a deep breath. We get to turn our attention to others as we embrace the generosity that marks this season, one of giving thanks and giving gifts. Today, we give back.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a world-wide movement encouraging us all to donate and volunteer, working together to make our world a better place.

As young boys, Austine and his brothers would spend their days carry sand for local construction companies in Kisumu, Kenya to help their mother feed the family.

Now a CFCA scholar, Austine is realizing his dream of higher education.

Typhoon shows strength of Filipino character

I had the great privilege of visiting the Philippines a few weeks ago as part of my work as an editor and writer on our communications team.
