CFCA sponsored youth: Every day is chance to change your life

The CFCA project in Legazpi, Philippines, recently sent us success stories from young adults who were sponsored through CFCA.

Here’s one from Sarah Jayne, who is in her final year of college studying secondary education. Congratulations, Sarah Jayne!

I was 5 years old when my parents separated.

I do not know the reason why. All I know is “misunderstandings” brought the end to their love story.

Endings are very hard, but, then again, nothing really ends because when one door closes another one opens.

After several years, my mother met a man named Erik and they got married.

At first, I did not like him, but he treated me as if I was his own daughter, and now we have good relationship with each other.

My stepfather is a farmer, and my mother is a housekeeper.

We are a poor family, and we cannot meet all of our needs.

However, despite our financial difficulties, my parents found a way to send me to school.

When I was in fourth grade, a blessing came!

The CFCA staff told me that I have a sponsor.

It was such a big opportunity and an answered prayer for me.

Each year, I received school uniforms, school shoes, school supplies, school fees, groceries and much more.

CFCA really helped me, especially with my educational needs.

I graduated as an honor student in elementary school, and then moved on to secondary school.

High school life is very challenging, but I really did my best to overcome it all.

I was a star student all four years of high school, which was an achievement for me.

CFCA opened the door for many opportunities and many first time experiences as well.

Through CFCA, I had the first time experience to be an emcee, which I did not even imagine that I could do, and I competed in a Scrabble game for the first time.

These experiences helped me discover my talents and enjoy life.

Now, I am on to my next step. COLLEGE LIFE!

I am proud to say that I am a CFCA service scholar, which is a big help in pursuing my studies.

I am now a fourth year college student studying for a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.

I only have one more year until I reach the finish line.

“And the road to success is rough, but we have to pave it ourselves.”

I also want to give a big thank you to the CFCA family, and of course, to my sponsor Maria! A million thanks to you.
