Thank you for traveling with us on this awareness trip to beautiful Costa Rica.

We are a strong group of 35, including four representatives from CFCA-Ecuador and Karen Allemang, trips manager at CFCA-Kansas City.

Costa Rica introduction:

Population 4,727,000 (World Bank)

CFCA in Costa Rica:

Children and youth sponsored: 6,778
Aging friends sponsored: 599
Waiting for sponsors: 630

CFCA started working in Costa Rica in 1991.

You are invited to see our work firsthand on a trip to Costa Rica in 2014.

The trips are scheduled for April 5-12 and July 12-19.

“We believe that walking with and directly serving our families is a gift, an honor and a privilege.”

– Rafael Villalobos, CFCA-Costa Rica staff member

CFCA sponsors experience a developing solidarity with their sponsored friends.

We are honored to travel with this group of sponsors from these states and countries:

California
Florida
New York
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Nevada
Indiana
Kansas
Maryland
Pennsylvania
Missouri
Guatemala
Puerto Rico
Ecuador

Hope is in the air:

“I am grateful for the example of the young people in our group. This experience has been life-changing. I will spread the word.”
– Gerri Merkel

“You’ve made us feel really special. You make the miracle happen. Behind the bright smiles, there is a quiet strength.”
– Nancy Wiens-Graf and Jim Graf

“We have come to learn and to appreciate your daily struggle.”
– Bob Hentzen

For me, this trip is like receiving a hug from God.”
— Selina Melancon

“Every sponsor and every CFCA worker, when transmitting love to families, is engendering life, tenderness, hope, mercy and joy.”
– Rafael Villalobos, CFCA-Costa Rica coordinator

We have had 11 new sponsorships this week and requests for 92 profiles of children who need sponsors.

Note from Bob:

Nothing reaches the soul like the heroism in young mothers, the elderly with a young vision, and sponsors with a one-word reaction, “wow.”

Tomorrow we begin with another group in Guatemala, then to Bolivia, and then up to Kansas City on the night of Aug. 14.

On to Guatemala this afternoon. What a joy, our third awareness trip in three weeks — this time on home ground.

Deep gratitude for traveling with us. Please know of our thanks and prayers.
