‘We were greeted and had a bunch of confetti thrown on us!’

CFCA sponsor Bethany Schweitzer recently returned from a CFCA awareness trip to Guatemala and gave a first-hand account of how it feels to change a child’s life through sponsorship.

If you are considering sponsoring a child, CFCA sponsor Bethany Schweitzer can give you a first-hand account of how it feels to change a child’s life through sponsorship and how the experience will change you as well.

Bethany is from a family of nine siblings, all of whom sponsor through CFCA. Her parents sponsor seven friends.

Bethany and her sister Becca traveled to Guatemala on an awareness trip, June 15-22.

They visited four sponsored friends: two sponsored by their parents, one sponsored by another sister and the fourth friend is sponsored by their church.

Bethany documented the life-changing adventure through photographs and words on her personal blog.

“While all of us on the trip arrived home to electricity, running water, the ability to brush our teeth with water from the sink and run to McDonald’s or Starbucks for a yummy drink, that is not true of the people in these pictures. Most of them live in small homes or shacks, many with a tin roof. Instead of two siblings sharing a bedroom, if you walk into their homes you will find six, seven, eight people to a bedroom, and not all of them have beds. Their sink is usually outdoors, the river for washing clothes down the hill or across the village.”
