CFCA director of global strategy explains new position

Paul Pearce, CFCA director of global strategyFor 10 years, Paul Pearce served as CFCA’s director of international programs, overseeing the development of the Hope for a Family program in the field. Pearce was recently named CFCA’s director of global strategy. He talks about his new role and vision for the future.

What is your role as director of global strategy and how is this different from your previous role?

Half of my role is connected to international programs and the other half concerns our outreach to sponsors.

I will help the new international programs director (Dan Pearson) with major directional changes in the program, such as the structure of our legal entities overseas.

I’m more of a guide instead of directly managing the program. The other half of my time will be spent focusing on our mission with sponsors.

We would like to focus on differentiating CFCA from the 2 million other nonprofits in this country.

What is your long-term vision for the organization?

On the international side, the vision for CFCA is to continue putting the families we serve at the center of our decision-making.

On the sponsor side, we want to continue to nurture a dynamic interfaith community of sponsors that reflects the interfaith communities we serve overseas, a community that is united in the call for social justice.

We believe this call for social justice is a tremendous unifying force. CFCA can be a place where people from various faith backgrounds can participate together in empowering marginalized people around the world.

How do you plan to accomplish this?

We treasure our roots and relationship with the Catholic faith and with the Catholic Church, and that will continue to be a strength as we reach out to other denominations and invite them to participate.

Through our volunteer outreach program, we will explore how we can better serve their congregations. Also, we hope to reach audiences with new communication tools, such as the recently completed documentary, Rise and Dream.

Anything else you would like to add about your role and the impact you hope to make on the organization?

The other aspect of the role is to help the leadership ó the CEO, president and the board of directors ó maintain the beauty and wisdom of CFCA’s founding principles and values, to use what we have learned over these 30 years to fortify CFCA for many years to come.
