For those who have never met their child, it is the most rewarding experience you can imagine. My wife and I sponsor 8 children in 3 countries. We have been on 3 mission awareness trips to Guatemala and have visited our children 4 times in Ecuador. Ecuador does not have mission awareness trips but the local project assisted us after we arrived. We recently sponsored a girl from Bolivia and plan to visit her soon. We started this 11 years ago and have come to know the children and their families intimately. We have helped them with home upgrades and funds to bring water service to their home. We recently puchased cows for 2 families which will greatly enhance their ability to feed their families and provide extra income.
We have never before met such humble thankful people who truly are grateful for any small measure of help. We could go on and on praising the CFCA for all the wonderful work they do for the poor. We are so thankful someone introduced us to CFCA 11 years ago.

Kristi, You wrote a lovely account of your CFCA experiences and I enjoyed it all. After my wife died I was sort of lost until I was introduced to CFCA. I sponsored Tania in Nicaragua and later her sister, but when a year later I went on my first MAT I was so moved by the beautiful children and their families I had to do more. I have now been on four trips down there to see my wonderful families and have nine sponsored children and love every one.

I am planning on going down there again next February and I can hardly wait to see all of those happy faces. CFCA and all the wonderful people in Nicaragua, my and the staff there have given me much joy and purpose in life.

Thank you, Anne, Marilee, and Kathy for your comments! I am so grateful that this write-up is able to serve as an inspiration to others!

Anne, if you get online again to see this - where does Luisa live and how long have you been sponsoring her? I do hope that you are able to go and visit her!

Marilee, a friend of mine has been on at least one of the Guatamalan trips. I expect that you will have a fabulous time!

And Kathy, how wonderful to hear from one of my fellow mission awareness trip participants : ) I hope to go on the February trip sometime, too, to see parts of Nicaragua we did not yet see - and hopefully to meet the family and see the home of my other sponsored friend, Isabel!

Thank you Kritsti for sharing our story-- so beautifully written. For us, as you know, my dad, my husband and I, it was a chance encounter. We never knew anything about CFCA until my dad had a desire to go to Nicaragua to see what could be done to help the children there. What a blessed surprise and an awesome experience! We not only saw Nicaragua like we would never have seen it otherwise, we also had all our questions answered about the country and its most prescious people. I will never forget this trip and it was a pleasure to be part of it with YOU and so many other GOOD PEOPLE! Of course, we too, came home with sponsored children and after what we saw there, we are quite sure CFCA is doing a tremendous job! I have recommended it to many people. My father who is 86 will be going back there in February!
