Unfortunately, sending items in the mail can be costly, and there is always the risk of items getting stolen in the mail. Postal services in other countries can have questionable ethics, and items may be stolen before even reaching the project.

Once the item reaches your childís country, it can accrue some very high custom fees. Unfortunately, the project has to take money from the benefit fund to retrieve these packages.

If you would prefer to send something personal, I might suggest a small paper bookmark, stickers or photographs. These items would be small enough to fit in an envelope with a letter. Thank you, and have a blessed day.

Sincerely,
Veronica

Thank you, Rosemary, for your recent blog comment. We appreciate your care and concern for your friend; however, we have more than 300,000 children in our projects and it would be too difficult to keep track of their measurements. Besides, you know how fast children outgrow their clothes! We do not recommend sending any items, including clothing, in the mail because these items incur extremely high custom fees once it reaches your friendís country. Since the project does not have the means to pay these fees, they are not required to pick up any packages. Also, there is a high amount of theft that occurs when mailing items overseas.

If you are interested in purchasing a clothing item for your friend to wear, I suggest donating to our birthday and Christmas funds. Through the birthday and Christmas funds your friend will always receive a gift on your behalf. These gifts are usually something the child or aging person needs, like clothing or food baskets. By donating to these funds, the project will be able to use the donation to purchase these items in their own country, which will help their local economy to flourish and develop. If you have any questions regarding sending items in the mail, please feel free to contact Sponsor Services at 800.875.6564, and we would be more than happy to help.

Sincerely,
Veronica

Thank you for your question. We are very happy that you have decided to nurture the bond of sponsorship through correspondence with your friend; however, due to privacy concerns, we ask that all communication with your friend be made through CFCA.

Letters need to go through our process to make sure the children, youth and aging are writing their required letters each year. This process is also an important part of our privacy policy, which is in place to protect our sponsors and those who are sponsored through CFCA.

Please contact Sponsor Services if you need pre-printed labels to use when writing to your friend.

Have a blessed day,

Claudia
