Residents of Santa Teresita celebrate Christmas

December 16, 2008 at 3:59 pm 9 comments

Las Posadas is a Christmas tradition celebrated throughout Latin America commemorating the arduous journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. Each evening from Dec. 16 – Dec. 24, CFCA sponsored members and their families from the community of Santa Teresita, Guatemala, hold a candlelit procession to a different home. They sing songs, pray and end the evening enjoying traditional food and refreshments, such as tamales and fruit punch.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WITH US. I ENJOYED SEEING AND HEARING ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS CUSTOM OF TAMALES IN GUATEMALA. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD SHARE THE CUSTOMS OF OTHER COUNTRIES AS WELL. IT IS SO MEANINGFUL TO SEE THE CHILDREN AND THE ADULTS IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY PARTICIPATING IN THEIR TRADITIONS. THIS VIDEO BRINGS THEM TO LIFE SO MUCH MORE THAN A PICTURE.

Thank you for making the Spirit of Christmas come to life . The spirit of welcome, sharing and community shown in the video speak loudly of the gifts of the first Christmas.
It is wonderful to learn more and more of the traditions of our world family.

What a lesson in simplicity and quiet Christmas family-joy! These good people with their wonderful faith traditions have much to celebrate, and we have much to learn. The CFCA ministry is a joy and an honor to experience. With fidelity on our part we will indeed help provide “a world family, one person at a time”!

I wanted to say Merry Christmas to all those people in other countries, tamale making brings me closer to my family as we gather around here in my moms home. Yes it is a lot of work, but lasting memories for the kids. Always work for your heart and knowing that you do this work to please others. God Bless you all and have a happy new year. Your sister in Christ Ruby Dominguez.
